I also had the opportunity to visit a home to talk about a heating source for a shop, but the conversation soon turned into a discussion on installing solar panels. The member desired to be a good steward of the environment and wanted to use the resources gifted to us as we look forward to future generations to come.

I commend this desire to look forward for our children and our children’s children, but I pointed out another stewardship opportunity.

This opportunity is a program North Itasca Electric Cooperative has been offering for many years and yet is still unknown by many. It is the Wellspring program.

The Wellspring program focuses on renewable energy; mainly wind and solar. Instead of spending thousands of dollars on home systems, an investment in this program can make those same dollars stretch much farther by investing in wind and solar farms, substantially reducing the cost of installations, maintenance and repairs.

The best part of this program is – the energy you use at your home can all come from renewables.

To read how the program works, see our Wellspring page.
