In memory of Delmer Anderson


Leaving the Coast Guard/Merchant Marine in 1946, he married Lorraine Sickert the next year in Northome. He then started working for the U.S. Postal Service and becane postmaster.

Anderson was a member of the Northome Volunteer Dire Department, Northome Commercial Cub and Boy Scout Council Troop 148. He was also a 40 year member of the Housing and Redevelopment Authority of Northome and Koochiching County.the imagination - and the cooperative board!

Anderson oversaw many changes because of the availability of electricity. Northome and some adjacent communities joined North Itasca Electric in 1954, and in the 24 miles of line that came to the cooperative there were about a dozen meters per mile - five times denser than the rest of the district.the imagination - and the cooperative board!

From then until he retired from the cooperative, the use and growth of electricity challenged the imagination - and the cooperative board!
