North Itasca Electric funds college scholarships through unclaimed capital credits. High school seniors whose parents or guardians are members of North Itasca Electric can apply for these through the Northome High School scholarship committee.
Applications are available online on the Northome School counselor’s web page at https://www.northome.k12.mn.us/scholarship-information-links, at schools in the service area or at the North Itasca Electric office. For more information, contact the Northome School counselor at clundin@northome.k12.mn.us.
Children of families who live out of the area but are members of the cooperative (such as seasonal properties with a meter) are also eligible to apply.
As funds are available, there is also a scholarship for a member who has been in the workforce and has decided to return to school. This application is due April 24 at the same link and is called the “North Itasca Returning Adult Student.”
If the application is mailed, be sure to allow enough time for it to arrive before the due date.
