Roxanne’s Sales Talk

by Roxanne Prather, Member Services Representative

Wow summer is definitely here. We have had 85 to 95 degrees in the last several days, and it looks like it is going to continue throughout this next week. That’s a little too hot for Minnesota! I’m so grateful that I have air conditioning and can’t imagine how people do without!

My windows are all sliders, so I first went with a portable 8,000 BTU AC unit. It wasn’t big enough to cool my house, so I decided that I wanted a 12,000-window unit. I made sure it would fit in the window when it was open, and after trying several things I found that a big piece of thick Styrofoam works great to fill in the top half of the window. (If you need a piece let me know, I throw lots away off the appliances). Just measure your opening and cut it with a knife. I take duct tape and go around the sides to make sure it is sealed good so no bugs can get in. It works great and the white is clean looking.

But for those of you who have the crank-out windows, a mini split could be a great option for you. They are more energy efficient than a window unit and do not require a window to install. Mini splits are great because, depending on what you’re looking for, you can get one that just does air conditioning, or you can get one with a heat pump so you can use it for AC and heat. Some mini splits are easy to install while other ones require some special HVAC equipment.

If you are interested in finding out more call and talk to Andrew Francisco. He can help you to figure out what size you need, get you a quote, and get you in touch with someone who can install it if you want. We have been selling quite a few of these lately.

Until next time, stay cool!
